Committee Chairs and members shall have such duties as their titles indicate, and as the Board of Directors may assign. All actions of the committees relative to the association’s budget, policy and procedures documents, governmental and political affairs, and to decisions which would have long-term impact on the association shall be subject to the approval of the Board of Directors.
(According to AAR Policy & Procedures Section 2.11) Committee members are selected by the President-Elect and Treasurer

The chair of the standing committees shall charge and appoint their respective Task Forces and Action Groups to function as authorized by these Bylaws or the Policy & Procedures Manual. The AAR President may appoint special Task Forces and Action Groups as necessary. Committee Chairs and the President shall coordinate these appointments.
