Montgomery, Ala.- The Alabama Association of REALTORS® (AAR) named Hal Tillman, Jr., of the Birmingham Area Association of REALTORS® (BAR), as the state REALTOR® of the Year at the AAR annual convention held in Chattanooga, Tenn.
The state REALTOR® of the Year award is given to someone who exhibits outstanding professional, civic and association achievements. Over the past 28 years, Tillman has been active on the local, state and national level.
His accomplishments include 2009 AAR Regional Vice President, 2009-2010 NAR (National Association of REALTORS®) Federal Political Coordinator, 2008 BAR President and 2008 member of NAR Board of Directors. In his community, Tillman is a past board member of the Birmingham Jaycees, a member of the University of Alabama Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration Executive Society and a member of the Sunrise Rotary Club of Birmingham.
Bill Poole, AAR 2008 REALTOR® of the Year, presented Tillman with the prestigious award and spoke about his character.
“He serves the REALTOR® association with thoughtful deliberation and good grace,” said Poole. “His peers know him to be smart, capable, an essential member of any task force, study group, committee or directorate on which he serves. He is a natural leader,” added Poole.
