MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama Association of REALTORS® (AAR) honored Hal Tillman with the Robert Jemison Award at the AAR 2011 Leadership Conference in Montgomery, Ala.
The Robert Jemison Award is given in honor of Robert Jemison, Jr., the first Alabama REALTOR® to serve as president of the National Association of REALTORS®(NAR) in 1926. This prestigious award recognizes the long and valued association service of REALTORS® or REALTOR-ASSOCIATES® that have served for a minimum of 15 years.
Tillman, member of the Birmingham Area Association of REALTORS® (BAR), began his real estate career in 1982 and is chairman of Tillman Real Estate. In 2009 he was named the AAR REALTOR® of the Year. He served as BAR president in 2008, AAR Jefferson-Shelby-Blount regional vice president in 2009 and serves on the Federal Taxation Committee for NAR.
Richard Van Valkenburgh, 2009 recipient of the Robert Jemison Award, presented Tillman with this honor.
“Hal has demonstrated his commitment to organized real estate, the rules and regulations of his local board and the NAR Code of Ethics through his leadership positions at the local, state and national levels,” said Van Valkenburgh. “He truly deserves this award.”
Not only is Tillman dedicated to his profession, he is dedicated to his community. He served as a board member of the Birmingham Jaycees, past president of the Mountain Brook Lions Club and past executive fundraiser for the United Way. He is currently a member of the Sunrise Rotary Club of Birmingham, fundraiser for The Crippled Children’s Foundation and member of the Monday Morning Quarterback Club.
