MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama Association of REALTORS® (AAR) honored James Grant with the Above and Beyond Award, one of the highest honors offered by the association.
The Above and Beyond Award, established in 2002, recognizes the extraordinary efforts of a member who has devoted countless house unselfishly on an issue or project for the overall good of the Association and its members. The award is determined by the AAR Executive Committee and has been presented to only one other person.
Peyton Norville, the first recipient of the Above and Beyond Award, presented Grant with this prestigious award.
“Jimmy is one of AAR’s most faithful, most conscientious and long-serving members,” said Norville. “He has a powerful sense of commitment, an enduring work ethic, lots of energy and he has an unswerving faith to do what he sees as his duty.”
Grant, a member of the Dothan Association of REALTORS®, is the broker/owner of Century 21 James Grant Realty in Dothan and has been in the real estate profession for over 47 years. Grant has served his local, state and national association and his community in every capacity. He was Mayor of the City of Dothan for eight years, was on the Planning Commission and Board of Zoning for 12 years, currently serves on the Board of Directors for the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) and served as the president of AAR in 2004.
Current AAR President Robert Scott added “Mr. Jimmy is known and loved by our 13,500 members across the State as a committed and genuine real estate leader for many years."
As a graduate of Auburn University in Building Technology, he was instrumental in the design and development of the new AAR headquarters. As chair of the new building task force he spent countless hours working with architects and project managers to ensure the buildings success. The building will be the first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified structure in the Montgomery area.
“This is a tremendous honor,” said Grant. “I don’t think I could love anybody any more as a group then the Alabama Association of REALTORS®. They have meant so much to me in the last few years and I just thank them for that.”
The Alabama Association of REALTORS® is the voice of real estate in Alabama. AAR is the trade association for real estate professionals who work in the residential, commercial property management, resort and appraisal markets.
