Montgomery, Ala. - The Alabama Association of REALTORS® (AAR) awarded Sherry Dinges, a member of the Huntsville Area Association of REALTORS®, the David D. Roberts, Sr. Award at its annual convention in New Orleans, LA.

This award is given in honor of David D. Roberts, Sr., a distinguished Alabama REALTOR® who served as president of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) in 1985. It recognizes the member who has been a REALTOR® over a period of at least 20 years and who has contributed greatly to the member’s local board, AAR and NAR. It is the highest honor given by the association.

During Sherry’s years as a REALTOR® she has provided outstanding service to clients and customers, family, friends and her community.  Dinges has been involved in many diverse committees in all levels of the REALTOR® profession. She has served on 30 local committees and task forces since 1985 and 19 committees and task forces for AAR since 1991.  She currently serves as an Education Trustee and a Leadership AAR Trustee.  She is a graduate of Leadership AAR, class of 2004.

Dinges served as the President of the Huntsville Area Association of REALTORS®, President of the local Women’s Council of REALTORS® (WCR) and Certified Residential Specialist (CRS).  Since 1985 she has attended over 90% of the Huntsville Area Association of REALTORS® membership meetings and numerous seminars.

Dinges was awarded the REALTOR® of the Year honor by the Huntsville Area Association of REALTORS® in 1998. She received AAR’s Robert Jemison Award in 2002.  She gives back to community through her work with the Jaycees; March of Dimes; Huntsville Girls Club; Stop Child Abuse and Neglect; the United Way; the Chamber of Commerce; Habitat for Humanity; local, state and national political campaigns and the Huntsville/Madison County Homebuilders Association.

Keith Kelley, the 2011 David D. Roberts, Sr. recipient, presented Dinges with the highest honor given by the association.  When asked what it meant to win the David D. Roberts Sr. Award Dinges said, “It was an honor to be nominated and of course an even greater honor to be selected as the winner. This Association has meant so much to me and I am very proud and humbled to be selected for the David D. Roberts Award.”

The Alabama Association of REALTORS® is the voice of real estate in Alabama. AAR is the trade association for real estate professionals in Alabama, who work in the residential, commercial, property management, resort and appraisal markets.
