Leadership AAR 2018 Session 2: Professionalism & Ethics

Leadership AAR 2018 Session 2: Professionalism & Ethics

The Alabama REALTORS® Leadership AAR Class of 2018 met last week for the second session of this newly redesigned program. The Class spent an intensive two days learning about and discussing professionalism and ethics, not just in the real estate industry, but also as a critical building block of one’s character.

The first day’s content consisted of an intensive examination of the REALTOR® Code of Ethics, to include real-life examples of violations and ways they could have been avoided or mitigated. The next day of the program continued with discussion of how professionalism is a two-pronged endeavor – laying a foundation for ethical behavior and following through by actually behaving ethically in one’s day-to-day business. The class members also toured the Alabama Supreme Court and got to hear from Associate Justice Brad Mendheim about how our judicial system works in Alabama and the ethical assessments judges must make each day on the bench. The program closed with a panel discussion among representatives from the Alabama Securities Commission and the Alabama State Bar on ethics, shared values, and the principles of doing what’s right.

Stay tuned to hear about what the Class learns in Session 3 this fall when we close out the Leadership AAR Class of 2018 with leadership and governance!
