Gas Prices Plummet: 10 Alabama Counties with Lowest Fuel Prices; 10 with Highest

Drivers are enjoying some of the lowest gasoline prices in years as the average cost of a gallon of regular-grade gas has fallen almost 25 cents in the past three weeks.

The average price of a gallon of gas in the U.S. as of Monday morning was $2.447 a gallon, according to tracking site GasBuddy.com. Last month’s average was $2.695 per gallon. In Alabama, the average price of a gallon of gas was $2.078 per gallon, down 4.5 cents from last week and down 35.2 cents from last year.

The average price in Alabama was the fifth lowest in the country, behind Missouri ($1.995); Oklahoma ($2.058); Arkansas ($2.075); and Mississippi ($2.078).

Drivers in Hawaii ($3.798); California ($3.473); Alaska ($3.212); Washington ($3.157); and Nevada ($3.129) paid the most at the pump.
