Alexia Borden is senior vice president of Customer and Community Engagement for Alabama Power Company. She oversees Customer Operations and the local community affairs initiatives carried out by Alabama Power’s six geographic business divisions.

Borden most recently served as senior vice president and General Counsel, where she provided legal counsel to the Alabama Power management team and oversaw ethics and compliance, concerns, legal services and operations, risk services and the corporate secretary’s office. In addition, Borden served as general counsel for the Southern Company Services West Region, providing legal counsel for environmental, litigation, human resources and labor, contracts and supply chain.

Previously, Borden was vice president of Governmental Affairs. In that position, she was responsible for all aspects of the company’s governmental affairs at the state level and served as the company’s point person for interactions with elected officials, cabinet members and agency representatives. Additionally, she provided policy direction, coordinated government affairs initiatives, advocated for the company’s interests, and ensured compliance with all relevant laws.

Prior to joining Alabama Power, Borden was a partner at a law firm in Birmingham and Montgomery. During her career in private practice, Borden represented her clients — including Alabama Power — in environmental and natural resources issues and governmental relations.

In the environmental sphere, she had a varied practice focused on Clean Air Act compliance with an emphasis on New Source Review provisions and opacity. On the governmental relations side of the house, she focused on drafting, reviewing and analyzing legislation, developing legislative strategy, and advising clients on state ethics laws, Alabama lobbying laws, and federal and state campaign finance laws.

Borden serves on numerous boards of directors, including the Birmingham Zoo, Greater Alabama Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and Legal Services of Alabama. She is also a member of the Georgia Tech President’s Advisory Board and a member of the Georgia Tech ISyE Advisory Board. She is a graduate of Leadership Alabama, Leadership Montgomery, the Alabama Leadership Initiative, and Signature Leaders.

Borden earned a Bachelor of Science in industrial and systems engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama School of Law. 

Anthony Daniels is a dedicated public servant who is proud to represent Alabama’s 53^rd district in the Alabama House of Representatives, where he also serves as Minority Leader.

As a small business owner, former educator, and father, Daniels has been a strong advocate for education, healthcare access, criminal justice reform, and economic development initiatives since his election to the Alabama Legislature in 2014. Daniels serves on the boards of numerous in-state policy initiatives aimed at developing local economies around the state – particularly in rural and underserved communities – as well as regional and national organizations that further those policy goals.

Daniels grew up in the small town of Midway in Bullock County, and graduated from Bullock County High School. Daniels earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in special education from Alabama A&M University. He and his wife, Dr. Teneshia Daniels, have two daughters, Madison and Abigail, and a son, Anthony.

Russell Davis has served as the Executive Vice President of the Home Builders Association of Alabama since 1984.  The HBAA represents the residential housing industry with 8,000 members statewide.

In addition, Davis is the Fund Administrator for the Alabama Home Builders Self Insurers Fund, a workers compensation trust fund with an average $44 million in annual contributions.  In existence since 1984, the Fund serves approximately 5,400 members.

A United States Army veteran, Davis is a graduate of the University of Maryland.  He is a Certified Association Executive (CAE) and is a past president of the Alabama Society of Association Executives.  He is certified by the National Association of Home Builders as a Building Industry Association Executive (BIAE). 

Davis chaired the Business Associations’ Tax Coalition (BATC) for 6 years and currently serves on the executive committee of the Alabama Civil Justice Reform Committee and chairs the Alabama Council of Association Self Insurers’ Funds.

Helena Thomas Duncan was born and raised in Opelika, AL and is the youngest of five children. She received her Bachelor of Science in Finance degree from Auburn University Montgomery.

Duncan began her professional career as a teller at Southtrust Bank. Throughout her career in the financial sector, Duncan was able to offer support to individuals and main street businesses to help them succeed. In 1994, Duncan became Executive Vice President of Colonial Bancgroup, Inc in Montgomery, AL. During her time at Colonial, she oversaw Human Resources of over 5,000 employees in five states and was responsible for executive level recruitment. Her additional responsibilities included directly managing corporate security; development and management of private banking; and was a part of the group that prepared the strategic plan and planned mergers and acquisitions.

In 2005, Duncan opened American Legacy Mortgage in Montgomery. As Owner and Broker, she helped identify mortgage loan clients and find the best product to meet their needs, while establishing and maintaining excellent relationships with real estate agents. Two years later, Duncan joined First Tuskegee Bank in Montgomery as the Executive Vice President. During her time at First Tuskegee, she was responsible for the branch growth of both loans and deposits, and corporate governance relationships with federal, state, local supervisory authorities. She also oversaw IT; operations; bank security; the compliance department; Human Resources; and supervised all bank legal matters.

Prior to joining the team at BCA, Duncan was the Regional President of Liberty Bank & Trust, where she was responsible for the overall growth, development, and safety of all Alabama branches. Duncan joined BCA as Director of Strategic Operations and Growth, later moving to Senior Vice President of Operations and Investor Relations. Her focus as BCA Senior Vice President of Operations and Investor Relations was membership growth, which included member satisfaction and enhancement of the BCA membership experience. She oversaw all functions of Human Resources; Finance; Operations; and coordination of all communications, marketing, and events.

The veteran businesswoman began her role as BCA President and CEO in December 2022 and has continued to strengthen the organization’s advocacy efforts as the voice for the Alabama business community.

Duncan was recently named a Yellowhammer ‘2022 Woman of Impact’ for her influential role and contribution to business and the community across Alabama. She has served as Chairman of the Board for Saint James School, as board member for the Montgomery Chamber of Commerce, Child Protect, and Board of Controls Committee of 100. She currently serves as a board member for Dixie Electric Cooperative, YMCA, the Montgomery Committee of 100 and Synovus Bank.

Duncan is married to Clarence Duncan; they have two sons: CJ and Collin. Helena and Clarence reside in Montgomery.

Nathaniel Ledbetter of Rainsville, who is serving his third term in the Legislature representing DeKalb County’s District 24., was unanimously elected as speaker of the Alabama House of Representatives in January of 2023.

During his freshman term as a lawmaker in 2017, Ledbetter was also elected to serve as the House majority leader, a post he held for five years.  As majority leader, Ledbetter directed the daily operations on the House floor and managed the flow of legislation.

A former mayor and three-term city council member in Rainsville, Ledbetter retired from the Sand Mountain Electric Cooperative after 30 years of service.

He is married to the former Teresa Wilks, and they have two adult sons, Nick and Nathan, and four grandchildren. The Ledbetters are members of Broadway Baptist Church.

Todd Stacy is the Publisher of the Alabama Daily News and host of Capitol Journal on Alabama Public Television. He has worked in and around Alabama politics for 20 years, from the State House in Montgomery to Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. His morning newsletter is a "must read" for Alabama politicians and policymakers in Montgomery and Washington. Todd hails from Prattville, Alabama and graduated from Auburn University.

Taylor Williams is responsible for leading PowerSouth Energy’s external affairs division which includes the company’s economic development and governmental affairs efforts.  Since 2009, he has served PowerSouth in various external and operational positions. Prior to joining PowerSouth, Williams worked as the corporate development project manager at the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce.  He is currently President of the Economic Development Association of Alabama, President of the Montgomery Rotary Club and serves on the board of the Alabama Wildlife Federation.

Williams earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama and his master’s in business administration from Auburn University at Montgomery.  He and his wife, Elizabeth, have three children and attend First United Methodist Church in Montgomery.
