The Alabama Economic and Real Estate Report is a monthly statistics report produced by the Alabama Association of REALTORS^® and their team of economists. The numbers and figures in this report are drawn from numerous government and proprietary data sources and represent best estimates at the time of release. As new data emerges, Alabama REALTORS® may, from time to time, update these figures to reflect more recent information.

August 2024 Report 

• Alabama had 5,974 home sales in August, marking a 2.6% decrease from the previous month but a 0.66% increase from last year. This is the first monthly decline in sales following six months of increases. 
• The median sales price increased by 1.0% month-over-month to $235,575. This is an annual increase of $3,375 (1.5%), reaching its new highest level since August 2022.
• The sold volume was $1.49 billion, down 1.3% month-over-month, representing a 6.4% increase compared to last August.
• The 18,136 active listings at the end of August mark a 4.4% increase over last month and a 41.9% increase compared to the 12,783 one year ago.
• The 441 foreclosures in August represent a 1.3% decrease from the previous month and a 1.8% year-over-year decrease.
