2018 Annual Meeting, Awards Celebration, & President's Installation

Nearly 300 REALTORS® from across the state gathered in Montgomery on Sunday, October 14 for the 2018 Annual Meeting. The day’s activities began with the Board of Directors meeting followed by the Membership Meeting, both of which focused on Association governance. Following the meetings, members attended an Awards Celebration and President's Installation featuring a delicious three-course meal and wine pairing. The Leadership AAR Class of 2018 received their graduation certificates, award recipients were recognized, and the 2019 Alabama REALTORS® Executive Committee was installed. Incoming President Stacey Sanders encouraged members to shine their light over the next year and strive to positively impact others. After the dinner, attendees danced the night away at the installation reception which was brought to life by the live band, Creative!

On Monday and Tuesday, training opportunities included professional standards procedural training, mediation and dispute resolution, and fundamentals of local board leadership training.

Robert Jemison Award

The 2018 Alabama Association of REALTORS® Robert Jemison award was awarded to Jimmy Hamner of the Tuscaloosa Association of REALTORS®. The Robert Jemison Award is given in honor of the first Alabama REALTOR® to serve as President of the National Association of REALTORS® in 1926. This award recognizes a member for their long and valued service to our Association and their local board for a minimum of 15 years. He has attended state conventions, NAR conventions, served as a state Entitlement Director and Regional Vice President, served on numerous AAR committees and task forces, and has a strong record of ARPAC support both personally and through encouraging others to support the PAC. He has served in every officer capacity at his local board, served on the local board of directors, and on countless committees, all while giving of himself to mentor agents in the office and continuing to attend the local board membership meetings.

REALTOR® of the Year Award

The 2018 Alabama Association of REALTORS® REALTOR® of the Year was awarded to Mr. Mugs Mullins of the Montgomery Area Association of REALTORS®. The REALTOR® of the Year award recognizes a member who demonstrates a passion for service to their community and embodies the REALTOR® spirit by immersing himself or herself in service to the REALTOR® industry at the local, state, and national levels.

Mr. Mullins’ devotion to the REALTOR® organization and all we stand for is unparalleled. He sees the bigger picture of what it really takes to truly have a significant impact in our industry and on the lives of those we are here to serve. He embraces giving of himself through service on not just committees and task forces, but also in the ranks of leadership and through participation in real estate partner organizations, even once being named member of the year in one of these groups.

Mr. Mullins threw himself into the deep end when he joined the REALTOR® organization. It wasn’t even a year into his membership and he had already signed up to serve on two committees at his local board. He’s served the Montgomery Area Association of REALTORS® on 11 committees or task forces, the local and MLS boards of directors, and served up the line of officers.

At the state level Mr. Mullins began volunteering in his first year of membership at AAR. Since then he’s served on multiple committees, participated in Leadership AAR, served the state as an officer, and made generous contributions to ARPAC. He also represents Alabama with distinction at the national level, serving on multiple NAR committees and councils over the last eight years.
