Leadership AAR 2019 Session 3: Leadership & Governance

Leadership AAR 2019 Session 3: Leadership & Governance

The Alabama REALTORS® Leadership AAR Class of 2019 met for the third and final session. The Class spent two days learning about and discussing governance and leadership, not just as they are related to the Alabama REALTORS®, but also how they are applicable to other organizations or projects in which they may be involved.

The first day’s content focused primarily on governance, parliamentary procedure, and presentation best practices for leaders.

Day two of the program opened with the class members having the opportunity to hear from the current officers of the Alabama REALTORS®, who spoke with passion about their experiences in leadership roles both at AAR and in their communities, even offering some recommendations on how to get on a leadership path at AAR.

The program then shifted to a visit to the Frank M. Johnson, Jr. Federal Courthouse Complex in Montgomery where, in the historic courtroom, the class got to hear from the Presiding Judge for the Middle District of Alabama, The Honorable Judge Emily Marks. The group was then given the rare honor of a meet-and-greet and Q&A session with Senior United States District Judge The Honorable Judge Myron Thompson. Judge Thompson shared with the class notable events from his childhood, college years, and cases he has presided over.

Back at AAR, the program continued with a book report presented by program facilitator Jim Lawrence on conventional and unconventional traits of successful leaders. The 2019 Leadership AAR program closed with a series of entertaining and informative group book reports on leadership styles and philosophies ranging from the traditional perspectives and methods of Maxwell and Sinek to those from the sporting community and the military.

There was definitely something for everyone who aspires to be in leadership role in any field or organization in Session 3!

We hope you will join us at our Annual Awards Celebration and Installation Dinner on Sunday, October 20 to celebrate the Leadership AAR Class of 2019 members as they are recognized for their commitment to their personal and professional development.
