AREC CE Deadline Extended

AREC CE Deadline Extended

Due to disruption in continuing education (CE) courses due to COVID-19, the Alabama Real Estate Commission (AREC) extended the deadline for completing the required CE to obtain or maintain an active real estate license for the upcoming license renewal period to December 31, 2020, which gives licensees an additional 92 days from the previous deadline of September 30, 2020. AREC is also allowing approved classroom CE courses to be offered through virtual platforms, such as Zoom and WebEx. This extended deadline applies to all CE credit courses, including classroom, distance education, and online courses. Failure of active licensees to complete the 15-hour CE requirement by December 31, 2020 will result in renewed licenses being placed on inactive status as of January 1, 2021.

Note, the license renewal payment deadline has not changed. Online license renewal will start mid-June 2020. Renewal deadline without penalty is August 31, 2020. Except for temporary salesperson and temporary broker licenses, all licenses expire at midnight on September 30, 2020 and will be placed on inactive status on October 1, 2020 if not renewed by that time.
