Philip Wright Wins AAR Mickey Phillips REALTORS® for Children Award

Special needs children hold a special place in the heart of Decatur REALTOR® Philip Wright.  As Chair of the Morgan County Special Needs Program since 2011, Wright has led the program to grow from serving 400 special needs adults and children to 1,800 from in and around Morgan County.  Wright, a tireless advocate for all area children and youth, is the winner of the Alabama Association of REALTORS® 2022 Mickey Phillips REALTORS® for Children Award.

“Blown away,” is how Wright described hearing he had won the award.  “When they read my bio and I realized it was me receiving the Mickey Phillips award I couldn’t believe it. I know so many REALTORS® who are deserving of this award, and see the past winners’ names and to know mine now sits with them makes my heart full of gratitude!”

Wright, a REALTOR® with eXp Realty, LLC, The Grisham Group, was recently honored with the Morgan County Association of REALTORS® Rising Star Award.  During the Christmas season, however, you will find Wright starring as Buddy the Elf while delivering gifts for more than 200 families collected during the Morgan County Toy Drive on which he serves.  His efforts also extend to women and children who are victims of domestic violence. Wright works on the annual Morgan County Food Drive for Hope House ensuring the shelter’s pantry is stocked for the year.

As a member and Treasurer of the Morgan County Sheriff's Posse, Wright and other members support the sheriff's office and work year-round to raise funds for programs such as the Sheriff's Special Needs Rodeo which provides 1,800 special needs kids and adults a day of activities, lunch, and a live rodeo.

Wright’s work with children and youth doesn’t take a day off.  Along with his wife, Vickie, he is heavily involved with the youth at their church, Ark of Promise.  They began serving in the church’s children’s ministry immediately after joining two years ago and have now graduated to serve students 11-18 years old.
