2024 Election Advisory Rules

  1. Candidate endorsements. No candidate for state-wide or regional association office or the Board of Directors shall solicit or receive endorsements or promotions by boards, associations, or organizations affiliated with the Alabama Association of REALTORS®.
  2. Campaigning at AAR Governance Meetings. There shall be no campaigning for office of any kind at AAR Governance meetings by candidates or campaign surrogates. Campaigning shall include placing of campaign information, literature, buttons, stickers, and other campaign related activities.
  3. One member, one vote. Eligible members are encouraged to vote and participate in the AAR Election process. Members, their office staff, or local association staff, may not vote on behalf of another member or use a member’s credentials to cast a ballot in their name. Any evidence of improper voting in another member’s name may result in the votes in question being thrown out and not counted.
  4. Executive Committee. A member of the Executive Committee may not publicly endorse any candidate other than himself or herself during his or her term. Members of the Executive Committee shall avoid even the appearance of endorsement or support of candidates other than himself or herself. This may include public appearances, publicizing photos, campaign materials, and social media activity that would give a reasonable appearance of candidate support.
  5. Local Associations. Local Associations are encouraged to allow candidates to speak to their members prior to the election. Local associations are encouraged to promote participation and voting in the AAR Elections.
