Dear AAR Board of Directors,

            I hope this letter finds you well after the Thanksgiving holiday. We are looking forward to seeing all of you at our upcoming AAR Board of Directors meeting Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at 10:00am at the Alabama Association of REALTORS® Building at 522 Washington Avenue, Montgomery, AL. Sign-in will begin at 9:30am.

            The purpose of the meeting will be to conduct annual board training and orientation; review goals for 2024; discuss legal challenges affecting our members’ businesses; review current economic trends and forecasts; update the board on pending Association projects; get feedback on future Association business; and conduct other Association business. The resource page for the 2024 Board of Directors can be found here. Here is a brief overview:

• Motion 1: National Directors: The National Association of REALTORS® recently updated the criteria to serve as a NAR Director. AAR’s former criteria is out of date. The proposed Section 2.13 will update, reorganize, and replace the current Section 2.13 to reflect new criteria for NAR Directors and make other updates.
• Motion 2. Accounts and Accounting: AAR’s current policy was last updated in the 1990s. AAR is continuing to update out of date financial policies. The proposed Section 7.5 will update, reorganize, and replace the current Section 7.5 to reflect greater clarity, process, current practices, and make other updates.
• Motion 3. Funds, Investments, and Disbursements: AAR’s current policy is unclear, confusing, and inconsistent. AAR is continuing to update out of date financial policies.  The proposed Section 7.3 will update, reorganize, and replace the current Section 7.3. to reflect greater clarity, process, current practices, and make other updates.

            Please let us know if you will not attend the Board of Directors meeting. This meeting is for the 2024 AAR Board of Directors. Space and overflow seating will be limited. Parking will be available at the Association’s Parking lot at 502 Washington Avenue. The attire is business casual, and we will have a holiday lunch following the meeting at 12:00pm for the AAR Directors in attendance.
