Alabama REALTORS® Board of Directors Meeting Recap

The 2024 Alabama REALTORS® Board of Directors met on Wednesday, May 1st at the Alabama REALTORS® Building in Montgomery. The Board reviewed the 2023 Annual Audit, discussed legal challenges affecting our members’ businesses; reviewed current economic trends and forecasts; updated the Board on pending Association projects; and received an update on the Governance and Elections PAG.   A summary of the action can be found below:

  • AAR Awards: The Board of Directors approved the creation of a new Alabama REALTORS® Brokerage of the Year Award recognizing a small, medium, and large brokerage each year.  In addition, the Board of Directors approved sunsetting the Omega Tau Rho Award, which was discontinued by NAR.
  • 2023 Audit Report: The Board of Directors reviewed and approved the 2023 Audit. The Audit report reflects a strong financial position in 2023 and going forward. The Association's financial performance in 2023 marks the fourth-best year in the Association’s history.
  • REALTORS® Foundation: The Foundation’s 2024 Scholarship recipients were announced to the Board. The Foundation awarded 22 scholarships during its third year. Congratulations to all the student recipients!
  • Report on the Election and Governance PAG: The Board received a report from the Election and Governance PAG’s leadership that it has resumed its work following a brief pause due to NAR anti-trust lawsuits and related legal matters. The PAG’s goal is to complete its work by the end of the year.  
  • Annual Conference: Annual Conference 2024 will be held on October 15 – 17, 2024 at the beautiful Grand Hotel Golf Resort & Spa in Point Clear with keynote speaker, Joan Lunden.
  • Public Policy: The Board received an update on public policy issues and legislation affecting members and their businesses during the 2023 legislative session.  
  • NAR Update and Legal Report: The Board received a legal report on NAR Settlement and NAR rules changes, resumption of the DOJ Investigation, Alabama legal developments, statewide legal forms updates, and planning for potential impact on members, their businesses, and the Association.   
  • 2025 AAR Officer, RVP, and Board of Directors: Applications for the 2025 positions of AAR Officer, Regional Vice President, and Board of Directors will launch in June.
