The National Association of REALTORS® held its annual REALTOR® Party Training Conference in San Antonio, Texas on November 28-30, 2017. Attendees spent two days learning about REALTOR® Party objectives and key messages for success in 2018. Alabama was well represented at the conference with eight attendees.
Julie Minto, National Committee Liaison for REALTOR® Party Programs conducted part of the training for all of the conference attendees. Other Alabama REALTORS® attendees included Stacey Sanders, NAR Major Investor Council Representative; Morgan Ashurst, NAR Broker Involvement Program; Kim Mangham-Barelare, NAR Participation Council; Dick Chittam, NAR REALTOR® Party Member Involvement Party; Bob McMillan, NAR Issues Mobilization Committee; Sid Pugh, Alabama REALTORS® President; and Jeremy Walker, Alabama REALTORS® Chief Executive Officer.
During the meeting, Alabama presented a grant request before the NAR Issues Mobilization Committee to help pursue First Time Home Buyers Savings Accounts Legislation in Alabama during the 2018 legislative session. The program will allow potential homebuyers to save money towards the purchase of a home in a tax free account and would be another avenue to help consumers pursue the American dream of homeownership.
Alabama was approved for a grant of $162,804. Thank you NAR, and good work team! We will need your help this session and participation in calls for action to help get this legislation passed! Stay tuned for more information on this important legislation.
