Additional Rural Properties Approved for Historic Tax Credit

The Historic Tax Committee reviewed and approved new applications for the Alabama Historic Tax Credit at its meeting on December 16. Lisa Jones, the director of the Alabama Historical Commission, led the virtual meeting.

Stemming from two new projects and two existing projects, all four projects are from rural counties. The information on the projects is as follows:

Building (location)

Amount Requested

Howell School (Dothan)

$164,577.50 (Supplemental)

Fort McClellan Industrial HD (Anniston)

$2.283 million

113 2nd Avenue SE (Decatur)

$50,000

Fort McClellan 252 (Anniston)

$72,754.50 (Supplemental)

All four requests were allocated funds in 2021. This brings the total rural allocation remaining for 2021 to almost $3.2 million, while all of the 2022 rural allocation remains unallocated.
