Dear AAR Board of Directors,

            I hope this letter finds you well and having a great summer. I am writing to provide you several updates and a save the date for our next meeting of the 2024 AAR Board of Directors on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 10:00 am at the Alabama Association of REALTORS® Building at 522 Washington Avenue, Montgomery, AL. Sign-in will begin at 9:30 am. Please note this meeting date is one week later than we announced at our April meeting. We moved the meeting date back to accommodate additional governance to be considered this Director’s meeting.

The purpose of the meeting will be to pass the 2025 budget; consider a 3% ($7) increase in dues to keep up with ongoing inflation; consider governance proposals; discuss economic trends affecting our members’ businesses; legal updates regarding the implementation of NAR’s rule practice changes; environmental scanning of external legal challenges; update the board on pending Association projects; get feedback on future Association business; and conduct other Association business. Please let us know if you are unable to attend the Board of Directors meeting. This meeting is for the 2024 AAR Board of Directors. Space and overflow seating is limited. Parking will be available in the Association’s parking lot at 502 Washington Avenue. The attire for the meeting is business casual. We will have lunch following the meeting for the AAR Directors in attendance.

Several other Association updates can be found below:

• Legal: AAR published updated statewide legal forms in mid-July along with instructional videos to review the forms changes. Several live legal webinars have been held to help educate members ahead of NAR’s rules and practice changes on August 17. Much work remains to be done to help members through this transition and in-person trainings will be held across the state throughout August and September. It is great to see the usage of AAR Statewide Forms growing each year. At this time approximately 60% of our brokerages and members in state are utilizing at least one of the AAR forms; and more than half of the local associations have adopted the AAR statewide forms.  We truly value the ongoing feedback we receive from you, and we appreciate your continued support of this important effort for our members.   
• AAR Elections: Thank you for everyone who submitted their name for consideration for the AAR Board of Directors, Executive Committee, as Regional Vice President, or on the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Board of Directors. We have a great slate of candidates that can viewed on AAR’s website here.
• AAR Awards: Nominations for AAR’s highest honors are now open. The deadline for nominations is September 1, 2024. You can find more information on AAR’s website here.
• AAR Annual Conference: Please do not miss out on the opportunity to attend AAR’s Annual Conference taking place at the Grand Hotel in Fairhope, AL on October 15-17, 2024. You can review more information about the conference, schedule, and speakers here.
