Introduction to Community Emergency Response
Teams Training

The Lodge at Gulf State Park   |   21196 East Beach Blvd., Gulf Shores, AL 36542   |   June 9-10, 2019

This course is approved for 6 hours of Alabama CE.

Community preparedness is a key priority in lessening the impact of disasters. It is critical that all community members take steps to prepare in advance of an event. As real estate licensees are some of the most involved community members, this course will be extremely beneficial to them in serving their customers and clients after a disaster.

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates individuals about disaster preparedness and trains and organizes teams of volunteers that can support their communities during disasters. The CERT Program offers training in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, and disaster medical operations. With proper CERT training, you can help protect your family, neighbors, and co-workers if a disaster occurs.

Attendees of the "Introduction to Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT)," will learn introductory tips to help protect not only their previous and current customers and clients, but also their family, neighbors and co-workers in the event of a disaster, either natural or man-made.

Licensees will learn techniques for serving their communities by learning about Fire Safety, Hazardous Material and Terrorist Incidents, Disaster Medical Operations, and Search and Rescue.  Licensees who are in the business of property management, after attending this course, will be able to serve their property owners and tenants in a unique way after suffering a community disaster.  The skills that will be learned in this class will enable them to safely and efficiently survey property damage, communicate effectively with property owners and take care of tenant needs.

The course includes six modules: CERT Basics, Fire Safety, Hazardous Material and Terrorist Incidents, Disaster Medical Operations, Search and Rescue, and Course Summary.

Upon completion of this course, attendees will have the option to take an Online Final Exam to earn a Certificate of Completion from FEMA Emergency Management Institute.
