AAR Board of Directors: General Update
June 8, 2026
Dear AAR Board of Directors,
On behalf of President Mary Jane Owen, we hope you’re all having a good start to the summer. We wanted to share several updates with you.
- REALTOR® Foundation Scholarships: The list of REALTOR® Foundation Scholarship recipients was announced last week. It’s an outstanding group of young people. As interest and applications have increased each year, the Foundation Trustees have worked diligently to carefully evaluate each candidate. It’s detailed and important work, and they’ve done it well. You can read more about the 2026 recipients here: Link
- Public Policy: The legislative recap of the 2023-2026 quadrennium was published last week. The recap highlights notable advocacy efforts from 2023-2026. Many of these issues take several years to develop and move across the finish line. Your Public Policy Committee has done a good job reviewing legislation and advancing these efforts for our members. You can read more here: Link
- Elections: This has been a unique and challenging election cycle with an unprecedented amount of national money from out of state groups being spent in our state primary elections along with a series of court rulings that have confused voters. Statewide voter turnout for the primary was approximately 23%. The ARPAC Trustees did a strong job in these races. Ninety-four percent (94%) of ARPAC-endorsed candidates won or advanced to a runoff election on June 16, 2026. A recap of the Primary Election results can be found here: Link
- Primary Run Off on June 16: The primary runoff election is on Tuesday, June 16 next week. Many of you will be attending the NAR Legislative Meetings in Washington DC. Please remember to vote by absentee ballot before you leave. You can do so by visiting your local probate office and completing your ballot before you depart. Voter turnout is expected to be extremely low and every vote can make a difference. In 2022, a state senate race was decided by one single vote! Please encourage those in your sphere of influence to remember to vote as well.
Thank you for your leadership, support, and service on the Board. Please reach out if you have any questions or we can be helpful.
Warm regards,
Jeremy
